The 4th annual fundraiser supporting Doctors Without Borders, held on September 15, 2007, was a roaring success! The Malibu Global Awareness Board of Directors invited the community to celebrate “Changing the World.”
Thousands of dollars were raised to help men, women and children in dire need of life-saving medicine and medical care around the world.
The fundraising event was held at the famous Malibu Beach estate of John Garcia, founder and CEO of one of the world’s leading video game companies, NovaLogic.
The star-studded evening featured Powers Boothe as Master of Ceremonies with entertainment from the Louie Beltran orchestra, Steven Collins and the 7th Heaven Band, the late Wade Hubbard, and The Mornings.
Our live auction supported works by famous local artists such as Charles Arnoldi, Guy Dill, Laddie John Dill and Ann Thornycroft.
Dr. Matthew Spitzer, who has served with Doctors Without Borders for many years in China, Libya, and other remote parts of the world, was the main speaker.
The evening’s events were covered by leading newspapers and magazines, and everyone had a wonderful time.
Because of the success of this event, Doctors Without Borders has featured the Malibu Global Awareness organization as a premiere example of community fundraising in its 2008-2009 fundraising manual.
